Please inform your doctor if the patient:

• Has heart problems: Crucial Warning: Do not use this drug if you have a history of heart disease, angina (chest pain), heart attack, or irregular heartbeat, as it can constrict coronary arteries.

• Has high blood pressure: Inform your doctor if you have uncontrolled hypertension.

• Has a history of Stroke: Do not use if you have had a stroke or TIA (transient ischemic attack/”mini-stroke”).

• Is taking antidepressants: Inform your doctor if you are taking SSRIs or SNRIs (for depression). Combining these with Rizatriptan can lead to a rare but serious condition called Serotonin Syndrome.

• Is taking MAO Inhibitors: Do not take Rizact if you have taken an MAO inhibitor (e.g., moclobemide) in the last 14 days.

How to Use

Guidelines for Effectiveness

• Dosage: Take the tablet exactly as prescribed.

• Timing: Take the tablet as soon as possible after the migraine headache begins. It is less effective if taken too late.

• Repeating the Dose: If the headache goes away but comes back, you may take a second dose after 2 hours. However, do not take more than the maximum daily limit (usually 30mg or as directed by your doctor) in a 24-hour period. Do not take a second dose if the first dose provided no relief at all.

• Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. It can be taken with or without food, though taking it on an empty stomach may help it work faster.

• If You Miss a Dose: Since this medication is used “as needed,” there is no daily schedule. Just take it when a migraine starts.
